Ethereal - Turmoil Enclave

Sless relaxed in a pillow-filled throne, scantily clad in a dress that allowed the gentle breeze through the window to caress her flesh. While the ethereal plane was different, it was also very real to those who called it home, and her residence happened to be the best castle that prayer points could buy.

As an early adopter of administering promises to the masses, she gained immense power. Instead of converting her devotees into abominations, she leaned into the beauty of the vampire faction. Her subjects were granted immortality, unlimited food if they farmed their slaves well, and endless beauty… with fangs.

While Zardin and the others focused on extracting more from their subjects, deranging them further with fewer rewards, Sless took a drastically opposite approach that ultimately saved her life. When the gods of creation and structure raided her boss's home to steal from his vault, they also demolished most of those gods who swapped sides.

Almost all of the early adopters perished, quickly replaced by hardline Zardin followers. Sless, however, sat on her ever-growing throne, adored by her followers – who mostly operated in the shadows. While they fought, they did so strategically instead of barbarically. This meant a higher-than-average win rate, increased land holdings, and more followers finding comfort in her blessings.

And so, Zardin’s power waned over Sless, proving that one could promise riches, then deliver them. Of course, Zardin was envious, as were most of the other gods on both sides. Sless was truly on an island of immense wealth, comfort, and protection. Even Rel understood how powerful her defenses were, often coming to talk about her remaining neutral. She declined, but his presence warmed her tiny heart.

The enemy failed to understand the difference between kindness and weakness. And yet, as she sat on her throne, listening to Garmund read his endless reports from regions under her control, something caught her attention.

“Go back, say that one again,” Sless said, staring down her nose at the butler.

“Bamixy, Zoom Boom, 48% win rate,” Garmund announced. He wisely detected her annoyance, digging further into the data. “Almost full wipes, but one of the Zoolish cavalry confirmed a report. An unusual spearhead with powerful heroes defeated an underling of… Lord Ego. Ha!”

“I don’t know him,” Sless admitted. “Vampire?”

“Necromancer and vampire,” Garmund said, flicking the magical papers after he licked his fingers. She hated when he did that, but it helped him feel more intune with being alive, something she understood all too well. “Normally his win rate is in the seventies, but he’s having some bad luck. Oh, hey, there was a second report. One of his spearheads lost to shallowkin that were quickly reinforced even after a full wipe. Something about sea blight helping to save a few of his troops.”

“Kamish’s sea blight?” Sless asked. Garmund shrugged, unable to answer. No answer was always better than a lie to her. “I suppose I should socialize.”

Sless split herself into a clone with a simple thought, sending the duplicate to another section of the ethereal realm.
